A moose reported in the Université Laval sector

INTERVENTION. The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) advises of the presence of a young moose near Laval University. Witnesses saw the deer early in the morning, in the area of René-Lévesque Boulevard.

Last seen around 6:15 a.m., the animal has not been seen since. We do not know his route or his origin, but he would have possibly passed through the park of Bois-de-Coulonge. Impossible to know if the beast progressed along the cliff overlooking the river or if it crossed the stream from the south shore.

“The police tried to locate the animal without success before the rush hour traffic. According to the latest information obtained on the ground, he would have headed for the wooded area of the university campus. We ask citizens and especially motorists to remain vigilant when traveling in the area,” said Marie-Pier Rivard, communications officer at the SPVQ.

As a preventive measure, patrollers remained on site for part of the morning. In the meantime, wildlife officers have been notified. The rest of the operation takes place under their responsibility. The initial objective will be to contain the dashing young moose in its movements, in order to direct it to more appropriate places.
