Anticor wants to “put pressure” on Kohler and Dupond-Moretti to resign

Anticor federation president Elise Van Beneden estimated on Tuesday that “we had to apply pressure to secure the resignation of two Macronian figures, Alexis Kohler and Eric Dupond-Moretti,” both implicated in bad faith cases were.

“Today the government, the administration, is telling us that the +Balladur jurisprudence+”, which requires a minister implicated by the judiciary to resign, “no longer applies (…) unless the pressure is too strong,” said Frau Van Beneden at a press conference in Paris.

“It means that there is a kind of barometer of the acceptance of bad faith, which I do not think is acceptable, but there is also a message that I invite you to share,” the anti-corruption association president added to press attention: ” Perhaps we need to apply pressure to secure the resignation of these two high-ranking officials from the Macaronia.”

On Monday morning, the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) pronounced the dismissal of Seal Warden Eric Dupond-Moretti, who was accused of taking advantage of his position to settle scores with judges that he had defied when he was a lawyer.

A few hours later, on Monday afternoon, the indictment against Alexis Kohler, Secretary General of the Elysée, was announced on September 23 for “illegal interest” in the investigation of his connections to the Italian-Swiss shipping company MSC.

The executive ruled out a resignation of the two men.

“We have to protect political power from that,” commented Ms. Van Beneden, for whom these accusations are “incomprehensible”. For this lawyer by profession, “It is up to the superiors of Eric Dupond-Moretti and Alexis Kohler to deal with the consequences of the discrediting associated with these charges and this referral to the CJR, which not only affects their reputations as two extremely powerful men “.

For Me Jean-Baptiste Soufron, Anticor’s lawyer in the Kohler case, the latter “is being charged today with the most serious offense that can be imputed to an official in the exercise of his duties”.

“He’s number one in the French administration: will he be able to do his job properly?” asked this council.

Me Jérôme Karsenti, who defends Anticor in the Dupond-Moretti case, refused to present this case as a “dispute between judges” and recalled that Anticor’s complaint preceded the complaint of the two main judges’ unions in this case.

The lawyer fears “getting used to the dysfunctions of our politics”.
