Compiegne. The great prayer of Eid-el-Kebir in the Clos-des-Roses stadium is not unanimous
Saturday, July 9, in the morning, the Muslim community gathered at the municipal stadium of Clos-des-Roses for the great prayer of Eid-el-Kebir. This did not escape a resident who filmed the scene and denounced an increasingly recurrent practice, while the enclosure should normally be used for football practice.
“Since the Covid, it (Stadium) was taken over by the Muslim community“, testifies the local resident. “There are funerals on this stadium but there are also prayers at 8 o’clock with big loudspeakers and you can see it is not the world that is missing. I find it a little shocking and being woken up at 8 a.m. by screams like that, I don’t think it really belongs in a football stadium.“, continues this Compiégnois.
An exceptional authorization
Eric de Valroger, deputy mayor in charge of worship, explains: “The city gives an authorization per year for exceptional festivals so that in this context the faithful can meet.»
The elected also recalls that the mosque (which is not far from the stadium) is carrying out an extension project “which will accommodate more than 2,000 worshipers“. The mosque will also celebrate its thirtieth anniversary this year.
