Crepy-en-Valois. 40 years after the accident in Beaune, the pain of the families of victims persists

On Sunday July 31, the inhabitants of Crépy-en-Valois commemorated the loss of around forty of their children, who died in the Beaune disaster. 40 years ago to the day, in 1982, around fifty children from the city and its surroundings, accompanied by their instructors, went to a summer camp. On the road, a terrible accident occurs in the middle of the night: their two cars collide with two cars on the A6. 44 children and teenagers are then trapped in one of the two cars and perish in the fire of the vehicle.

A total of 53 people, including 46 children, including those trapped in cars, died in what remains, to date, the worst road accident in France. In Crépy, the emotion was at its height in front of the memorial erected in the cemetery. 40 years later, the families have forgotten nothing. The pain is still there.
