A fire took place this Thursday, July 14 in the afternoon in Crépy-en-Valois. A rather worrying fire, since the flames found themselves very close to homes on Avenue de Senlis, in this town located in the south-east of the Oise.
On social networks, the Météo Nord Parisien account published two videos: one of a residential area of Crépy, covered in thick smoke and a second, closer to the flames.

There was a fire in a fallow field“, explains Vincent Cornille, deputy mayor of Crépy-en-Valois. “Seven hectares of tall grass burned. The flames approached the edge of houses: they burned a hedge and melted an inflatable jacuzzi“.

Above all, the fire has caused some fear among the nearest residents. “With the wind and the drought, it is a wall of flames which left from the other end of the field and which approached the dwellings in less than ten minutes“, continues Vincent Cornille. “It has been a lot of fear or stress for the inhabitants of two houses“.

There was no evacuation of the most threatened pavilions. Vincent Cornille specifies that the local residents remained on site until the arrival of the firefighters. These drowned the ground on fire. The fire was brought under control shortly before 4 p.m.

Several fires in a week

The surroundings of Crépy-en-Valois were hard hit by agricultural fires. The Crépy fire is the third major fire in less than a week. Before this, the town of Trumilly, a few kilometers to the west, was the victim of a compost fire, Wednesday July 13. 2,000 tons went up in smoke in more than half a hectare of forest.
Further south, 40 hectares of wheat also burned near Bouillancy. The fire occurred on Sunday July 10.
