Electric scooters in Paris: After great success, they are soon in short supply

It now costs up to 3,000 euros a year to park a motorbike or scooter in Paris every day. In addition to the amount of effort, it is the complexity of the scale that annoys the biker. The hourly rate varies between 2 and 6.25 euros, depending on whether he is a resident or a visitor, whether he parks in one part of the city or another, above ground or underground (Read more about this in our guide to paid parking in Paris).

The only way to retain the right to park for free in the capital? Conversion to electric drive, which is exempt from charges. Provided, however, that you register your vehicle at Paris City Hall (to obtain your “Low Emission Vehicle” ticket) and report to the parking meter by drawing a free parking ticket in order to be identifiable at controls.

Electric scooters are increasing their market share but remain a minority in France

It’s no wonder that sales of electric machines are rising sharply under these conditions. Market leader Super Soco reports a 160% increase in the first six months of the year, while another Chinese manufacturer, Yadea, says its sales have doubled. “I’ve quintupled my turnover,” explains Grégory Coillot, CEO of Volt, “French leader in the distribution of urban mobility products.” The Île-de-France remains the largest sales market after Marseille and Nice.
