Elon Musk sells $6.9bn worth of Tesla shares

(Reuters) – Elon Musk has sold $6.9 billion (6.7 billion euros) worth of Tesla shares, explaining that the funds obtained could be used if he loses his legal battle against Twitter.

“In the event (which is, I hope, unlikely), where Twitter manages to force a finalization of the agreement, and some (of our) financial partners do not show up, it is important to avoid an emergency sale of Tesla shares,” the billionaire wrote on Twitter.

The Tesla boss ended the Twitter takeover agreement at the beginning of July, accusing the group of having failed to meet its contractual obligations by providing incorrect or incomplete data on the number of fake accounts. The social network rejected these accusations.
