Even after 2035, Ferraris will still run on gasoline

The European Parliament has adopted the bill aimed at banning the sale of cars with petrol or diesel engines by 2035. This radical choice means that all new models sold in the European Union will have to be totally electric or Fuel cell. An amendment leaving the door open to plug-in hybrids was indeed rejected during the vote.

Although the decision has been endorsed at European level, its application remains to be discussed with the Member States before the European Council. This is where some differences could emerge, some countries like the Czech Republic being openly opposed to this measure. Germany has had a shifting stance over the months as France meanwhile hoped to save plug-in hybrids.
