Firefighters attacked in Crépy-en-Valois and Montataire
Oise firefighters were once again victims of attacks. A corporal was injured in the eye in Crépy-en-Valois on Friday June 24, while other men were victims of a “real trap” in the night from Friday to Saturday in Montataire.
The first attack took place on Friday around 5 p.m., rue de Soissons in Crépy-en-Valois. A crew is called for a person who is unwell. The individual “was heavily intoxicated“, explains Eric de Valroger, president of the Oise departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS60). The person in charge urinated on the firefighter, before punching him in the eye. The injured rescuer was examined in the emergency room. Slightly touched, the fire soldier filed a complaint.
A few hours later, on the night of Friday 24 to Saturday 25, the firefighters of Montataire were in turn targeted. After midnight, the firefighters are called for a trash fire on Avenue Gabriel-Peri. Barely on the spot, they are greeted with throwing stones and cobblestones. One of the firefighters was then hit in the back of the head by a cobblestone. “Luckily he was wearing his helmet and the cobblestone hit him where the protection was maximum“, reports the SDIS.
Systematic complaint filing
Again, the firefighter filed a complaint. “I have given instructions for the filing of a complaint to be systematicinsists Eric de Valroger. “We were right to be the first SDIS in France to adopt a “protect our firefighters” plan.“says Eric de Valroger. This plan, implemented in 2021, aims to gradually equip firefighters with pedestrian cameras and protective equipment. During the departmental congress of firefighters in Nanteuil-le-Haudouin, Eric de Valroger did not hide his indignation by publicly evoking these attacks.
Since the beginning of 2022, 12 attacks against 27 firefighters have been recorded in the Oise.
