France: According to the PFA, the car market is very uncertain despite the good month of September

PARIS (Reuters) – Management of auto brands in France expects a stable market at best and a 10% decline at worst in 2022 as September’s rebound failed to eliminate risks related to chips, energy and consumer spending power, it said a spokesman for the Automotive Industry Platform (PFA) told Reuters on Monday.

New car registrations rose 5.5% last month, the second straight rise after 14 straight months of decline. For the first nine months of the year as a whole, however, they remained down 11.8%.

Reflecting the uncertainties surrounding the home stretch of 2022, the French Automobile Manufacturers’ Committee (CCFA) barometer for new car orders in France, a leading indicator of future registrations, fell 1.3% on Monday for the month of September.
