Heatwave and fire risk in the Oise: The prefect prohibits access to forests
No walks in the forest of Compiègne or Chantilly. With the peak of heat expected in the Oise on Tuesday July 19, the prefect Corinne Orzechowski has taken additional preventive measures. In particular, it decided to prohibit, until Wednesday July 20 “access and traffic in all forests and woods, except for municipal, departmental and national roads open to public traffic. This measure does not apply to owners of private plots.
The Oise in orange vigilance
Added to this is the ban on the sale, transport and use of fireworks with the exception of pyrotechnic shows that have been declared to the prefecture. This also reminds us that the harvests “are authorized only to people who have, near the place of agricultural work, fire-fighting means, namely a water tank and a dethatcher. This proximity means the means available in the field concerned by the works or in an adjoining field.»
In addition, the prefecture maintains the bans already existing since July 13: releasing flying lanterns, producing flames in natural spaces, smoking in these same natural spaces, mowing and pruning on the edges of the road.
Météo France maintains at least until Tuesday July 19 afternoon the orange vigilance on the department. Temperatures are expected to approach 40 degrees at the height of the day.
