The Carrefour Contact store in Laneuville experienced a fire outbreak on Thursday July 14. It was around 4 p.m. when the fire broke out. “The store was open until 1 p.m. As a result, the store was closed when the fire started. But I was there with my parents to move forward with the paperwork, where I was falling behind.“explains Julien Guillaume, the store manager. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished. “We got there on our own. But because of the fumes, we had to call the fire department“, reports the manager.

According to him, the origin of the fire would be electrical. “Luckily we were there, because otherwise the store would have burned down.»

“It still smells burnt”

After the intervention of the firefighters, the store teams had to get down to cleaning the shelves. “The smoke caused ashes, dust, which got everywhere in the shelves.“For the time being, the manager explains that the damage is not yet known. All the cheeses contained in this piece of furniture which caught fire have been lost.

After this fire, the sign reopened its doors almost normally this Friday, July 15. “We reopened at 8 o’clock, as usual. We worked a good part of the night to restore the store. We are only missing the cheese section.»

A cleaning company is always at work on the shelves of the store. “As for us, we continue our activity, as we can. Only bad smells remain. It still smells burnt.»
