The appointment of Christian Jacob’s successor at the head of LR should take place next November.

We must give ourselves totally to it, “he said. added. The former minister explained at length his vision of the current political situation, denouncing the return of the Republic of the parties, the one which had blocked the exercise of power under the Fourth Republic, considering that France is “ungovernable” because of the relative majority of the presidential party. While drawing up an acid observation of the activity of his party Les Républicains in recent years.
“After three consecutive defeats in the presidential election, the right has lost this historic link which has always united it to the French. […] These defeats come from afar. The right, for too long, has had neither clarity in convictions nor courage in action […] This observation is hard, but it must be done”, he castigates. The Republican candidate for the 2022 presidential election, Valérie Pécresse, obtained only 4.8% of the votes in the first round. With 61 deputies, the LR group is the third opposition group in the National Assembly.
