Legislative: Bourguignon, Montchalin, Ferrand… These pillars of the majority beaten in the second round
The first to be sanctioned is the Secretary of State for the Sea, Justine Benin. She was beaten in the second round of the legislative elections this Sunday morning in the second constituency of Guadeloupe.
Health Minister Brigitte Bourguignon did not receive a blank check from voters either, quite the contrary. According to AFP, voters in the sixth constituency of Pas-de-Calais preferred Christine Engrand (RN).
She is followed in the evening by Amélie de Monchalin, the Minister of Ecological Transition. The interested party falls in Essonne against Jérôme Guedj (Nupes).
Not only have these leaders of the majority been disavowed at the end of this second round, but they must now leave their ministry. The President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron had already recalled the rule: any defeated minister must resign.
Early Macronists dismissed
Among the personalities of the majority to see their lease to the assembly not be renewed, there are macronists of the first hour, like the former Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner, eliminated on the second constituency of the Alpes de Hautes -Provence. The LREM / Renaissance group will therefore have to find a new group president.
No one is spared since the President of the National Assembly Richard Ferrand, fourth character of the State, was also beaten on the sixth of Finistère against the candidate Nupes Mélanie Thomin. A performance, even if the gap between the two candidates is only… 1%.
