Macron: Russia cannot and must not win the war

French President Emmanuel Macron told a press conference after the G7 summit in Germany that Russia “cannot and should not” win the war in Ukraine. For him, the objective of Russian President Vladimir Putin was the surrender of Ukraine, which he believes justifies international sanctions against Russia. The President indicated that international efforts were continuing to facilitate the export of cereals from Ukraine, by rail and by the river.

Raise the cost of war

The G7 leaders want Russia to pay the maximum cost for its invasion of Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Tuesday, reiterating that “Putin must not win this war”.

“The G7 remains united in its support for Ukraine,” Scholz told a press conference after the G7 leaders’ summit in Germany. “We will continue to maintain and increase the economic and political costs of this war for President (Vladimir) Putin and his regime,” he added.

“state sponsor of terrorism”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded on Tuesday that Russia be recognized as a “state sponsor of terrorism”, the day after a Russian strike on a shopping center that killed “more than 20 people”, according to kyiv. “Only insane terrorists, who should have no place on Earth, can fire missiles at civilian targets,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.

“And these are not off-target missile strikes in kindergartens, schools, shopping malls, apartment buildings, these are calculated strikes by the invaders,” he continued. “Russia must be recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism. The world can and therefore must stop Russian terror”, concluded the Ukrainian president.

At a press briefing, the deputy head of the presidential administration Kiril Tymoshenko indicated that the balance sheet of the strike on the shopping center of Kremenchuk now amounted to “more than 20 dead” and more than 40 missings. Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, for his part, indicated that some bodies cannot be identified because they are badly burned. “It can take a few days to identify them,” he said.
