LONDON (Reuters) – Britain’s new finance minister, Nadhim Zahawi, appointed on Tuesday evening to succeed resigned Rishi Sunak, called on Thursday for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to step down or risk seeing the current government crisis worsen.
“This is unsustainable and it will only get worse, for you, for the Conservative Party, and, more importantly, for the whole country”, wrote Nadhim Zahawi on his Twitter account after the departure of about fifty of members of the government.
“You have to do the right thing and leave now.”
