North: 120 pigs killed in a road accident

The balance sheet is heavy. Tuesday evening, an accident between a truck and a car in Houtkerque (North) near the Belgian border caused the death of 120 pigs. The cattle were in the back of the truck when the collision happened and the truck lay in a ditch.

Drivers slightly injured

Despite the intervention of firefighters, most of the 200 pigs died. “120 pigs died and will be picked up by dealers before being redirected to the renderer”, specifies the SDIS du Nord. The two drivers of the vehicles, who were slightly injured, were transported to the Hazebrouck hospital center.
