Plailly. Fire in the Ermenonville forest, near Parc Astérix
By François Nerrand, Editorial staff
Among the many fires against which the firefighters of the Oise fought this Tuesday, July 19, a new front opened a few kilometers from Parc Astérix. The fire occurred at the end of the afternoon in the forest of Ermenonville, in the south of the Oise, in the town of Plailly and not far from the neighboring villages of Mortefontaine and Thiers-sur-Thève. Smoke rising into the air was visible from the amusement park.
The municipality of Mortefontaine affirms that “16 hectares of pine forest have already burned. The area was completely cordoned off, closed to traffic, so that the firefighters on site could operate.
The nearby municipalities appealed to the solidarity of the inhabitants, so that they come to support the firefighters with donations of “foodstuffs and drinks in the village hall (…). This space is transformed into a rear and rest base for the firefighting forces.»
At 10 p.m., the town of Plailly announced that the fire was under control on its side. But for the neighboring towns of Mortefontaine and Thiers-sur-Thève, these indicated shortly before 11 p.m. that the fire was continuing.
You would encourage us to do it even better in the future. Thank you!
