Rochy-Conde. 50 tons of waste on fire

The firefighters intervened in Rochy-Condé east of Beauvais this Friday morning, July 1, for a fire. 50 tons of waste were set on fire. The operation lasted all morning.

It is 7:30 a.m. this Friday, July 1, when the firefighters must mobilize significant resources on a fire. Five machines and 25 firefighters were sent to a place called Le Champart, in Rochy-Condé. “The fire impacted 50 tonnes of waste”comments the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service.

The rubbish is in a waste sorting and recovery center in Suez. This is the second time in two months that a fire has broken out there. Already on Wednesday May 4, 500 m2 of rubbish had been engulfed in flames. “We don’t know the cause”specifies the Sdis who adds that there are no injuries.

A morning of struggle

The scale of the disaster mobilized firefighters all morning. “Several water resources were implemented, in particular the CCFS 10,000 cannon lance, to lower the intensity of the fire and extinguish it”adds the Sdis.

They were helped by the operator who “provided a construction machine to remove the unburned waste”.
