Rogers restores services for the majority of its customers

Telecommunications giant Rogers has finally restored service to the vast majority of its customers in Canada, the company said on its social media on Saturday morning.

“Our technical teams are working hard to ensure that services are restored to customers still affected by outages as quickly as possible,” Rogers said via Twitter.

Full restoration of services should take some time, Rogers said, apologizing to its customers for the disruption.

Rogers will proactively offer “credit» to its affected customers across the country, after this nearly 24-hour outage.

Innovation, Science and Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne tweeted last night that he had reached out to the CEO of Rogers to share the frustration of millions of Canadians.

For his part, Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers, said last night on Twitter that he takes this responsibility very seriously.

The origin of this major outage – which notably affected the 311 service of the City of Montreal and many businesses using Interac – is still not known.
