Sanctions: Russia bans its soil from Biden’s brothers and his spokesman
200 Americans have been banned from entering Russian territory, Russia said. Among those individuals are two brothers and a sister of President Joe Biden and his spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre. This decision was made “in response to the increasingly extensive sanctions imposed by the Joe Biden administration”.
Russia announced on Friday that it would ban 200 Americans, including two brothers and a sister of President Joe Biden and his spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, from entering its territory in response to US sanctions aimed at Moscow. This decision was made “in response to the ever-widening sanctions imposed by the Joe Biden administration, not only against Russian officials (…) but also against all those who, for one reason or another, do not please Washington,” according to the Russian Field service This was announced by the ministry in a statement.
Accused of “promoting a Russophobic campaign”
Among those banned from entering Russia are James Brian Biden and Francis William Biden, two brothers of the US President, and their sister Valerie Biden Owens. Also on the list are independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who has harshly criticized the February 24 Russian offensive in Ukraine, political figures and members of President Biden’s administration.
Moscow accuses them of “being involved in promoting a Russophobic campaign and supporting the Kiev regime,” the statement said. In late June, Russia announced it would ban the US president’s wife and daughter from its territory after Washington imposed sanctions on members of Vladimir Putin’s family, particularly his two daughters, and on the Russian president himself. Joe Biden is banned from Russia.
