This is a real charge in order. Invited to comment on national and International news this Monday, July 4 on the Public Senate channel, Oise senator Olivier Paccaud launched a fierce attack on senator Edouard Courtial (LR). “As an old Gaullist I am very sad to see what has become of the movement in the Oise”began Olivier Paccaud who had left the party at the time of his election to the Senate in 2017. The culprit is all found for those who are still interested in party affairs: “The situation is linked to the inaction of the current interim president Edouard Courtial”, he estimated. Edouard Courtial has chaired the Oise federation since Eric Woerth, the previous holder of the seat, joined the presidential majority at the start of the year.

“Edouard Courtial was a president (of the LR, Editor’s note) phantom as he is a phantom senator in the Senate and in the field”

And Senator Paccaud illustrates by example: during the legislative campaign, “Edouard Courtial did not come to support any of the LR candidates” he notes while Paccaud himself is “went to meetings to support Maxime Minot in particular who was the successor of Edouard Courtial”. The appreciation of the work of his ex-comrade LR hurts: “Edouard Courtial was a president (of the LR, Editor’s note) phantom as he is a phantom senator in the Senate and in the field”. “It’s unfortunate,” he lets go, obviously annoyed.

While the federation was placed under guardianship after the centrist hesitations of its interim president Courtial during the last campaigns, Senator Paccaud believes that this “decision is completely logical”.

The former Republican, who says he does not want to return to the party, believes that the movement locally needs a new breath. “To be very clear, the LRs of Oise must start again on new bases, it will take a new president”, he comments. And Olivier Paccaud sees in Nadège Lefebvre a very suitable leader: “It seems to me that the president of the departmental council would be an excellent president for the LRs of Oise, she is very consensual, she is a hardworking woman – this is the essential quality -, present, who masters the files and who is unanimously appreciated”.

What is called a veritable panegyric.
