The political signal is strong: two ministers and a European Commissioner traveled to Strasbourg on Monday 12 August to inaugurate the new data center of OVHcloud, the French leader in cloud computing. Alongside Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, Bruno Le Maire, Minister for the Economy and Finance, Jean-Noël Barrot, the Minister’s new delegate for the digital transition, were crowded with a multitude of personalities: the Prefect, many French and European MPs, Generals, the president of the Grand Est region, the boss of Anssi…

Three months in operation and officially inaugurated with a red button – replacing the traditional cut ribbon – the new OVHcloud building initially symbolized the resistance of the French player. On March 10, 2021, seven months before going public, the cloud provider founded by Octave Klaba suffered a severe fire. The presence of these leaders also testifies to a growing support for the French digital sector, which has long been fragile and isolated in the face of the ultra-dominant American players.
