Directed by Sophie Deraspe, the Quebec series Black beast was acquired by Olympusat, a media company specializing in television acquisition, distribution, and production on the Spanish and English networks.

The series will thus be available in the United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa, Mexico, and all Latin American countries.

These territories are added to the United States, Norway, Australia, France, and all French-speaking countries.

Black beast is the first television work of Sophie Deraspe, which was noticed in the cinema in particular with Antigonechosen to represent Canada in the race for the Oscars.

Launched on Séries Plus in March 2021, the six-episode series tells the consequences of the irreparable acts committed by Jérémy (Zakary Auclair), a teenager who took his own life, leaving the mystery hanging over his motives.

Isabelle Blais and Sophie Cadieux play respectively the roles of Jérémy’s mother and that of the psychiatrist-coroner in charge of the investigation into the tragedy.

Black beast garnered 15 Gemini Award nominations, with a harvest of five trophies.
