TUNIS (Reuters) – Tunisian voters who took part in Monday’s referendum voted in favor of a new constitution that would strengthen the powers of President Kais Saied, according to an exit poll broadcast by state television.
According to the survey carried out by Sigma Conseil, 92.3% of voters voted in favor of the new Constitution. The participation rate was 25%.
Opposition parties boycotted the poll, with nearly all major political parties and civil society organizations denouncing a unilateral approach to the rewriting of the constitution and the legitimacy of the referendum.
