(Reuters) – French video game publisher Ubisoft rose sharply on the Paris Stock Exchange on Friday in the wake of its U.S. competitor Electronic Arts (EA), which is benefiting from speculation that Amazon could try to sell it. redeem.
Ubisoft shares gained 5.51% to 45.41 euros at 3:10 p.m. after taking up 9.4%.
EA and several other stocks in the industry jumped after USA Today’s “For The Win” site published reports that Amazon may present a formal takeover bid later in the day.
EA’s rise briefly hit 14% but eased after CNBC, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that a bid was not on the cards.
EA and Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters.
