United Kingdom: Charles III. is officially proclaimed king
Charles III was officially proclaimed king two days after the death of his mother Elizabeth II after 70 years of reign at a meeting of the Accession Council in London.
The ceremony took place at St James’s Palace and was attended by the new Queen Consort Camilla, the new heir to the throne William, Prime Minister Liz Truss and several of her predecessors. The Accession Council brings together members of the Royal Family, several hundred MPs, Prime Minister Liz Truss and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, senior officials, Commonwealth officials and Anglican dignitaries.

“Duties and Heavy Responsibilities”
King Charles III was “deeply aware” of the “duties and heavy responsibilities” related to his new functions and took an oath before the accession council that had just proclaimed him monarch. “My mother’s reign was unmatched in duration, devotion and devotion […] I am deeply aware of this great legacy, the duties and the heavy responsibilities of sovereignty that are now being transferred to me,” said the 73-year-old King during the ceremony, which was televised for the first time.
