WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. division of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) was ordered on Monday to pay nearly $300 million in damages to settle a years-long dispute with the U.S. Department of Justice over standards fraud polluting emissions from its diesel vehicles.
The decision comes after FCA, now part of the Stellantis group, pleaded guilty in June to criminal conspiracy for trying to circumvent emissions standards for Ram and Jeep models in the United States.
