Wave of protests by Gafa employees: Analysis by Luc Julia

After the Great Resignation and the Great Depression, Silicon Valley was hit by a wave of major protests. After the Covid crisis, many companies are demanding the return of their on-site employees. Even at Apple, where employees are typically very disciplined and working conditions aren’t the worst, dissatisfaction is growing and troops are organizing to fight the decision.

On the other hand, it’s the employees of Facebook or Google who worry about hiring freezes and sometimes even layoffs. And now from an increased demand for their productivity from their respective leaders, Mark Zuckerberg and Sundar Pichai. It’s true that they may have broken the habit… And now Amazon employees, along with their Google colleagues, are organizing demonstrations against the warlike use of their technologies, even as these groups intensify their search for defense contracts.
