Xavier Bertrand launches Nous France, which he promises to be “young and unifying”.

The LR President of the Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand, on Saturday launched his We France movement, which is firmly opposed to the extreme right, arousing the anger of Eric Ciotti, who wrote on Twitter about this “nth step made fun of.

Almost 500 people gathered at the theater in Saint-Quentin (Aisne) on Saturday afternoon to listen to Xavier Bertrand’s promise of “a modern, young and unifying movement”.

“Yes, I still have the same energy and will to carry my ideas,” started the former secretary, who retired from the stage of the Republican primary in the 2022 presidential election.

Coming from his think tank La Manufacture, “We France will be a collective force, I may have been missing that,” he estimated.

Will he run for office himself in 2027? “Four and a half years earlier, of course not,” assured journalist Xavier Bertrand, calling for a “transmission role” to “bring forth a new generation”.

But “we all have a little idea of the person who could wear those colors,” applauded Essonne Council President François Durovray.

If he remains a member of the Republicans, Xavier Bertrand intends with Us France to “talk to all French people”, especially the middle class, which will be “a priority” and “to work outside of electoral assemblies”.

Xavier Bertrand, who described himself as “a man of the social right, Gaullist”, promised that “we France will never go after the extremes” and would say “no to any deadly idea of a union of the right and the extreme right” .

A warning that, in the LR presidency race, can be read as a rejection of the line defended by far-right candidate Eric Ciotti.

“I’m having a little trouble understanding Xavier Bertrand’s new and umpteenth approach. I go and come back, then I go and tomorrow? It reminds me of the popular song by Claude François, less happy,” tweeted the Alpen-Maritim MP.

“There is the light of the lighthouse of Alexandria and there is Eric Ciotti,” Nous France spokesman Jean-Didier Berthault replied on Twitter.

Supported by several MPs (Pierre-Henri Dumont, Julien Dive, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone…), Xavier Bertrand also invited the UDI Senator from the North, Valérie Létard.

In addition to social issues, the former minister advocated fighting “for order” because “if nothing is done by the time of withdrawal in 2027 (…), there may even be clashes”.

Lowering the criminal age of majority to 15 years, “Republic of Territories”, fight for secularism or “ecology of solutions”, the former primary candidate took up his campaign proposals in detail and criticized “the Wokist ideology”.

And “we will talk to those who work, because in France we don’t earn enough when we work,” he added, seizing on his idea of a “work bonus” that covers part of the wage bill.

On pensions, “I am willing to advocate for reform when there is justice” and “when those who have been injured by work can leave sooner,” he launched, calling on the executive to deliberate.
